The event has been organised by community workers from the Rosemount Resource Centre to help bring people of different ethnic groups together to mingle.

An invite has been issued to representatives of each ethnic minority in Derry including the local Traveller, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani and Filipino communities.

The event will be staged at Rosemount Resource Centre and will run from 11 am to 4 pm, with a nominal 50p entrance fee.

There will be a barbecue on the day as well as cage soccer, bouncy castles, face painting, balloon art, henna tattoos, and information stalls from a range of different local groups.

Drive 105 will be broadcasting live from the Resource Centre during the one day festival.

Darren O’Reilly from Rosemount Resource Centre said: “The event is designed to help build on community relations, given the diversity within the local community here in Derry and the north west.”

He added that the event was also timely due to a rise in racism and xenophobia coming from the Brexit debate around immigration and refugees.

“We want to bring people together so they can make new friends and access services and support.

“The event is open to everyone and is for people of all ages,” he added.
