Rosaleen McGeehan, a pupil at Lumen Christi has also raised £400 for local charities by taking part in the competition.
The money she has raised, along with other candidates will be donated to Headway and Downs and Proud.
In the next stage of the competition, Rosaleen will compete in Kent in England and then in Euro Disney.
“I couldn’t believe it when I won the Face of Northern Ireland,” Rosaleen told the Derry Journal.
“The finals were on the Seagoe Hotel in Portadown and I honestly didn’t think I’d be chosen. I was so happy, I didn’t even think I’d get past the interview stage. My mammy and my wee cousin Annie were with me and my aunties and we were all really buzzing.
“In October now I get to go to Folkstown in Kent and then Euro Disney to take part in the Face of the World. In the meantime, I’ll be continuing to fundraise for Headway which is a charity which helps people with head injuries and brain injuries. Since the competition started in 2011, Headway has been given £95,000 so I’m delighted to be able to continue to fundraise.
“I think I’ll get my uncles to do a sponsored chest wax next! I had a cake sale in school and we also did a sponsored walk so I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve been doing so far. I’ll continue fundraising for Headway now until we get to England so it will be a busy few months when I get back to school.”
Rosaleen was helped by Bridal Elegance, Geraldine Bridal Bliss, Roco, Rio Tan, and Alana Clarence.
