Sinead Smyth holds first solo exhibition at Waterside Theatre

Described as an artist in the community for the past 22 years, Sinead Smyth as worked with The Turner Prize, The Thames Festival, The British Council, City of Culture 2013, and many public bodies. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally.

She said: “I am delighted to have my first solo show in Northern Ireland in Derry~Londonderry at the Waterside Theatre. My father worked as a teacher in St. Peter’s during the ‘70’s so I spent a lot of my childhood in the city and feel very connected to it.”

Sinead is also grateful to Mary Blake, DCSDC, for launching this exhibition.

“Mary is a wonderful asset to the city, she is someone I’ve always admired,” she said. “We worked together several years ago at The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Castle Espie in Co. Down. She is an exceptionally creative and talented lady and I am honoured she will open this exhibition”, she said.

Sinead is a mother of three children and has recently dedicated herself to painting full time while renovating an old cottage into a studio and gallery, beside her home, outside Carndonagh. To view some of Sinead’s work go to www.sineadsmyth.com.

The exhibition will launch on 5th Sept at 6.00pm, and run until 28th September in Cascade Gallery, Waterside Theatre, Glendermott Road.
