The Strathfoyle Community Week, which starts on Monday 21st promises to deliver a great programme of events this year.
Headlining a night of entertainment at the Strathfoyle Youth Club on Friday 18th July are local band The Clameens. The event is free but tickets are required, and those wishing to attend are reminded that it’s an alcohol free event.
The week will culminate with an air display on Sunday 27th July at the football field in Strathfoyle.
Promised to be bigger and better than ever before the Irish Coast Guard Search and Rescue helicopter will be landing at 2.30pm, for a two hour static display, giving you the chance to see the helicopter up close and speak to the people behind rescues. Local company Cutting Edge will also have their R44 helicopter landing whilst the Northwest model aircraft club will have model jets, planes and helicopters on display.
Finally, three paramotors will take to the skies, throwing out sweets for the kids as they ascend.
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, there will be a ‘healthy living day’ which includes the ‘Unity in Community 5k charity run’. The Action Cancer bus will also be at the village centre from 10am-3pm. Finally, on Saturday, the annual community fun day takes place in the Youth Club. There’s also the Big Strathfoyle Reunion at 8pm at The Gransha club with six piece band CheckMates. Entry is just £3 entry.
