The MacMillan Cancer Support is to once again to benefit from the proceeds of the Annual Knockavoe Bed Push from the bottom of Newtownkennedy Street (in Strabane) to the summit of Knockavoe (972ft overlooking the town) this New Year’s morning.

This will be the 9th year of the event which has so far raised close to £30,000 for local cancer charities with Mac Millan Cancer Support, The Children’s Hospice, the Sperrin Unit at Altnagelvin; Foyle Hospice all having been past recipients.

Launching this year’s appeal for sponsorship for the event, organisers Jay Mc Cauley and Raymond Mc Gowan and John Kelly said,

“It’s that time of year again when we begin to prepare for the annual bed push.

The work of MacMillan needs little introduction as almost everyone can attest to the amazing levels of practical support and advice its staff and nurses provide to cancer sufferers and their families.

“Everyone is welcome to help in whatever capacity possible and if you are willing to be a participant and/or to collect sponsorship you can contact Jay on 07808803578.”
