Have you a talent or musical gift to share with the wider world? Well, an integral part of this Friday’s Music City! will be the Roaring Meg Busking Festival - and the Gasyard Wall Féile is encouraging local buskers to take to the streets to win cash prizes, including the top prize of £1,000!

Féíle is encouraging all street performers and buskers to get involved in this musical extravaganza, which will be held in the city centre from 1pm to 6pm this Friday, June 21; with each performer being asked to busk for a maximum of two hours.

Gasyard Wall Féile organiser Ami McBride said: “This event will be an opportunity for our own homegrown talent to go acoustic on the streets of Derry. Everyone is welcome to take part; if you are musical at all we want to hear from you. The city will be amazing on the day of Music City! when performers will play from dawn to dawn; we want to help the city come alive with music.”

There will be a top prize of £1,000 for best act; five equal prizes worth £200 each for best under 18, best senior, best group, best male, best female and £100 for spirit of the festival. All acts taking part will also be considered for a performance throughout the Gasyard Wall Féile’s music events.

Gareth Stewart, co-ordinator of Music City!, said: “Busking festivals are all about the simple and powerful art of bringing people together from all walks of life, with interactive comedy, hypnotic music and mind-blowing stunts. The festival is for everyone to get involved and showcase their talents to a packed city with the added bonus of cash prizes on offer.” Contact: roaringmegbuskingfestival@live.com or check out the website: www.facebook.com/roaringmegbuskingfestival.
