Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin has made a fresh call for action on the erection of the ‘Factory Girls’ sculpture in the city.
Ms McLaughlin made the call after a planning meeting at Stormont found no major concerns with the application.
“Whilst the site at Harbour Square has been altered with the investment in the Guildhall and café space this is not an insurmountable issue. The lead organisation, the Department of Social Development in conjunction with Derry City Council, must ensure the revised plans for that site are completed and advanced. It is clear that the artist cannot nor should not be out of pocket for this process - the lead organisations need to move now.”
