2D, the Northern Ireland Comics Festival, has teamed up with Derry City Council to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Derry with a fantastic Comic Art Competition for local school kids.
Who would you have liked to carry the flame? Who is your hero? You can nominate anyone, from your grandparents to your favourite musician or comic character. But instead of just writing your nomination down, 2D organisers would like you to create an image showing your hero carrying the flame. You can create this any way you like - the only limit is your imagination! Draw your character on an A4 or A3 page and entries can be in either black and white or colour. The closing date is Friday, May 25.
The prizes include hundreds of pounds worth of Art Materials and Gift Vouchers and competition details have been sent to every local primary and secondary school locally. For a copy of the competition details, contact the VAC on: 71. 266946 or email: email@example.com or download details at: www.2dfestival.com
2D, Ireland’s leading Comic Festival, returns from May 31 to June 2 at the Verbal Arts Centre with a fantastic programme for all ages.
Events include workshops, talks and panel discussions, with the main themes exploring the ‘Olympic Truce’ and the ‘Digital Evolution’ in comics. 2D culminates with the hugely popular 2D Comics Fair on Saturday, June 2, where some of the world’s best comic artists and writers who have worked on everything from Batman, Superman, Avengers, X-Men and the Walking Dead to the Beano will be sketching your favourite comic characters and signing books. All events are FREE. 2D is supported by DCAL, Derry City Council, ACNI, Brunswick Moviebowl, Digital Derry and Sandinos. www.2dfestival.com
