Aspiring photographers in Derry have been challenged to capture the city’s growing diversity for a 2012 calendar.
Organised by Derry City Council, the annual Diverse City Competition is now in its third year.
Twelve winning images will feature on a 2012 calendar themed ‘Diversity is the spice of life.’
Carol Stewart, community relations officer with Derry City Council, is keen to encourage budding photographers of all ages to enter the competition this year.
“The response we have received in the past to this competition has been excellent and the calendars we have produced are really amazing, depicting a wide range of images of the city and its people.
“The calendar is used to promote our diversity message and the fact that we welcome people from all backgrounds, religions, cultures and traditions,” she said.
This year’s competition is divided into two distinct categories - City Citizens, Seasons and Celebrations and Faces, Faiths and Festivals - and will be graded under two age groups, Youth (under18) and Adults (18 and over).
Competition applications are available at libraries, community organizations and public buildings across the council area and online at www.derrycity.gov.uk/goodrelations.
The closing date is September 23.
