Linedancing championships in Derry

Calling all linedancers.

The Maiden City Line Dance Championship is the first ever major Line Dance Championship to be held in Northern Ireland and it will be held in Derry this weekend.

There’s an open call to all Line Dancers to challenge themselves to be the best in the UK and Ireland. You’re never too young and never too old to win.

The event will take place tomorrow (Saturday May 11) in the Memorial Hall, Society Street.

Championship Doors Open for registration at 1:00pm.

Competition Starts at 2:00pm - food available during the day at the Memorial Hall

Social Dancing from 9:00pm till late, with admission to everyone, even if you haven’t been competing during the day.

There are a number of categories including beginners, advanced and variations.

Cowboy hats are optional.

Jeans and trousers are allowed however fashion jeans are not allowed ie wide bell bottoms, frayed edges or ripped jeans.Skirts and dresses are allowed but hemlines can be no shorter than four inches from the middle of the knee.

General Admission on the day is Adults £6.00GBP or 7.00EUR and Children £3.00GBP or 4.00EUR. Ticket includes admittance to social dancing 9pm-Late.

Parking is available at Society Street and Bishop Street Car Parks. Foyleside can also be used for daytime car parking.
