UK Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy will perform an afternoon reading at the Waterside Theatre for “children of all ages” next Saturday, October 5, while in Derry as part of Poetry Month.

Publications, Guildhall Press and Derry Writers Group will welcome one of the most significant names in contemporary British poetry when she arrives in the city for two performances especially for City of Culture celebrations. Her visit coincides with that of another acclaimed poet - Derry-born Colette Bryce - who will perform her first reading in her hometown for nine years.
Carol Ann Duffy’s early afternoon show takes place at 2pm in the Waterside Theatre and will see the Poet Laureate accompanied by actor and musician John Sampson as part of the theatre’s Children’s Literature Festival, Peek-a-Book!

Carol Ann Duffy has written for both children and adults, and her poetry has received many awards, including the Signal Prize for Children’s Verse, the Whitbread and Forward Prizes, as well as the Lannan Award and the E.M Forster Prize in America.
