The north west public have been urged to get behind Derry’s Riverdance world record attempt.

Organised by Derry charity Children in Crossfire, the attempt takes place at Ebrington/Peace Bridge on August 18.

Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin called on people cross Derry, Tyrone and Donegal to get involved.

“This is a great initiative by the local charity Children in Crossfire, particularly as this record breaking attempt will to be taking place during the 2013 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann being held in Derry.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up for this event and if they have any family or friends coming to Derry for the Fleadh to let them know it’s happening ,and that they could be taking part in a wee bit of history and getting into the record books.

“We have seen in previous world records attempts that the people of Derry and from our neighbouring counties of Donegal and Tyrone are always up for a challenge,” she said.
