Derry chef Sean Owens has returned home to Derry to work at the Metro Bar.
Sean, a proud Creggan man he has never forgotten his Derry roots.
“I am privileged to be cooking traditionally modern Irish and International cuisine at the Metro Bar with the Downey Group,” he said.
“It has always been my ambition to come back and cook in my home city, and share my culinary journey.”
At an early age Sean had a love for all things food and cookery.
The Owens household had the lingering aromas of fresh Irish breads being baked every morning and of course the soups stews and coddles that his mother had perfected from classic recipes handed down from her father a Sgt. Cook with the army in WW2.
Sean has worked around the world including five star hotels in Europe and the US
He’s also helped to set up the Catering Dept. at Springvale Training Ltd. Campus in West Belfast passing on his culinary skills.
Sean and his team at The Metro have put together a challenging range of menus which show their repertoire to its fullest, using only first class produce with a big accent on locally produced foodstuffs.
