DERRY Glee star Damiam McGinty is set to hit the road again in his first major US tour for four years.
Damian will be touring as a solo performer and special guest in 13-year-old child prodigy Ethan Bortnick’s new show entitled The Power of Music.
The 21-year-old Derry singer last toured with Celtic Thunder in their Autumn tour of 2010, and is currently in Derry for his brother’s wedding.
Speaking about the new tour, he said: “I’m so excited to be back on stage and performing again for a lot of people who have supported me and my career from day one. It’s a very exciting prospect and something I cannot wait for.
“It’s great to be back in front of fans. I’ve missed that energy; there’s nothing like it. You can do all the TV you want, but for me, I was born to be a live performer.”
He added: “I’m doing about six to ten songs per show, some old favorites, as well as some new songs that I’m trying out, testing the waters to get audience reaction and see what they like.”
Damian also has a full-length album in the works, which he plans to release in 2015.
“It’ll be a direction that I see my career going in from here on in. A sound that we are currently working on,” he said. “Everybody asks me, ‘What is your sound going to be?’ I’m gonna be Damian McGinty.I know what that is in my head, and that’s something we now have to put on a record.
“I’m working on writing my own songs right now. It’s a great challenge, and one that I love.”
As well as being part of Phil Coulter’s Celtic Thunder group, Damian played Irish exchange student Rory Flanagan during season three of Glee.
