As well as bringing hundreds of thousands of people to Derry, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will also bring money-spinning opportunities for local people.
Homeowners across the north west are being asked to open their homes to provide accommodation for the many visitors from across the world who will be coming to Derry for the Fleadh in August.
Local company Foyle Hospitality, which is described as “an accommodation match making service” is asking local people to register to provide accommodation for fleadh guests.
Linda McCafferty from Foyle Hospitality said; “We are expecting 300,000 people to arrive in Derry for this event which is from Sunday 11th of August to Sunday the 18th of August and there just isn’t enough hotels and B&Bs in the city to accommodate all these people.
“We are asking for help from the people of Derry to make any spare rooms or houses available, where we match guests to their accommodation and they can earn up to £420 per room for the week.”
Foyle Hospitality is looking for spare rooms, houses and flats for the duration of the Fleadh.
Registering costs £10 for the first bedroom and £3 for each additional bedroom. The fee will be collected when the properties are inspected. Inspections are carried out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
