Local music entrepreneur Oran O’Carroll, the man behind Walled City Records and Audio Booth studios, finds out later today whether he has won the prestigious ‘MTV Student of the Year’ competition.
20 year-old Oran was just one of 1,000 entries from all over Ireland and the UK to enter and made it to the Top Five. Today, he will learn his fate. First prize is a three-month paid internship with MTV over the summer, tickets to the MTV Awards in Amsterdam and more. Speaking yesterday, Oran recalled his trip to MTV headquarters in Camden. “The whole experience was very intense,” he told the ‘Journal’.
“The day lasted over 12 hours with lots of interviews and tasks, but I learned a lot from it and one thing is for certain, I will never be afraid of doing an interview again. If I don’t win I’m still very happy with how far I got. I am excited for the announcement of the winner and let’s hope I did enough to impress the judges.”
