Rapper and producer Professor Green and songwriter MNEK have been confirmed as the first two acts to play MTV Crashes event on September 19.

The weekend’s events will be broadcast live on MTV across Europe.

Rapper, songwriter, producer and now fashion designer Professor Green is soon to release his 3rd studio album ‘Growing Up In Public’. The album features amazing collaborations from artists including Rizzle Kicks, Ed Sheeran and Tori Kelly.

He said: “I am just excited to get out on that stage, I love performing, that’s what it’s all about for me, so I’m looking forward to sharing my tracks with this Derry audience and seeing their reaction at MTV Crashes!”

MNEK is a Grammy nominated songwriter and producer MNEK who is madly, deeply, truly in love with music. As a singer and songwriter, he’s scored a No.4 smash with Gorgon City’s hugely acclaimed ‘Ready For Your Love’.

As a songwriter, he boasts a Grammy nomination and a No.1 single for Duke Dumont’s ‘Need U (100%)’. As a producer, writer and remixer, his credits include Rudimental, Sub Focus, Tinie Tempah and Bastille as well as working with Diplo, Clean Bandit and Sinead Hartnett for their future projects.

He said: “I am looking forward to getting out there and performing alongside Professor Green at MTV Crashes Derry, I think it’s going to be a good one and hopefully we will well and truly crash it!”

Mayor of Derry, Councillor Brenda Stevenson, said she was hugely excited that Professor Green and MNEK have been confirmed as support acts for MTV Crashes Derry. 

“This is a huge coup for the city and fantastic news for popular music fans across the city and region who are hugely excited about attending a weekend of fantastic music celebration at Ebrington,” she declared.  “We are delighted to be working with MTV to announce additional acts in the coming weeks and look forward to hosting another hugely successful legacy event as part of Music City 2014.”
