Two of the biggest groups in Irish traditional music will perform in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin tonight as part of the University of Ulster’s Trad on Campus festival.
Tonight’s concert, featuring Beoga and Goitse, has been organised by the Traditional Music Society at Magee and is designed to bring traditional music to a wider audience.
The bands are regarded as some of the biggest names on the traditional music scene and are renowned for their live performances.
The festival will also include masterclasses in fiddle (led by Aine McGeeney), guitar, (Conal O’Kane) bodhran (Colm Phelan) and piano (Tadhg O Mheachair) in the Foyle Arts Building from 3-5.30pm.
Doors for the concert finale featuring Beoga and Goitse will open at 7.30pm. ‘An Ré Nua’ competition being run by An Cultúrlann will start off the proceedings and this will be followed by performances by members of the UU Trad Soc.
