X Factor: Conor bows out saying '˜I had an absolute ball'

Conor McGinty hopes to get to judges houses after this weekend's Six Chair Chellenge on the X Factor.

The talented 21-year-old was initially awarded one of the places available on the Six Seat Challenge but was switched out in a dramatic episode which saw Nicole Scherzinger select her last six in the Boys category.

Nicole said Conor had given his best performance after he delivered a rendition of U2’s ‘Every Breaking Wave’ and had offered him a seat initially.

Later however he had to give his seat up for one of the other contestants and there were shouts of ‘bring him back’ from the crowds at Wembley as Conor exited the stage.

A flood of people have since taken to social media to express their shock at the decision and register how Conor had done himself and Derry proud.

Following the show, Conor himself took to Facebook page ‘Conor McGinty Music’ to express his disappointment, but said he was grateful for the doors his appearance on the X Factor has opened.

He posted: “Guys it is what it is ... I’m absolutely gutted - The song didn’t show what I’m all about & I suppose that’s down to bad song choice on my behalf.

“I’ve had an absolute ball of a time and the show has opened so many doors for me already, boosted my fan base & they have been nothing but great to me.

“I started singing four years ago .. I’m 21 .. Plenty of time ahead & hopefully someone out there somewhere can take a chance on me!! Thank you all for the incredible support over the last few months, you have all been incredible!! Hope I did Derry proud .. Onwards & upwards.”

County Derry man Niall Sexton meanwhile made it through the brutal round of the competition and will now fight for one of the final spots on the live show, after singing one of Scherzinger’s own songs, ‘Run’.
