The Playhouse Children and Teens Arts Festival is the longest running in Northern Ireland, as it celebrates its 22nd year, from next Monday 21st July to Friday 1st August.

And this year the festival will make a musical mark to celebrate Derry’s unique musical heritage and 2013 legacy with its designation as City of Music 2014!

Music photographers with independent record label Smalltown America, as well as artists and curators from local art galleries, along with the founder of a new musical theatre company, are among the facilitators announced for the two week festival.

They include Bernie Doherty of Boogie Bugs, Kirsten McLaughlin of KidArt, music photographer Lisa Byrne of Wrapped in Plastic Photography, and Ryan Quinn of new musical theatre company Black Air Theatre Company.

Festival co-ordinator Jessica Caldwell said, “The festival will be divided into three age categories; from 4-6 year olds, 7-12 years old and our teens - ranging from 13-16. This means that every group will get the very best and most out of their experience and ensures a safe and friendly environment during their summer visit!

“Unfortunately, there are only a limited number of spaces and demand is very high, so to make sure you book quickly to avoid disappointment!”

The Playhouse Children and Teens Arts Festival will run from Monday 21st July to Friday 1st August. To book or for further information contact The Playhouse Box Office on (028) 71268027.
