Doireann McKenna from Derry will take on the lead role of ‘Emily’ in the MAC theatres Christmas production of Rumpelstiltskinin Belfast.

Set to spin a new twist on the much-loved fairytale, this will be the MAC’s fourth Christmas show and is proudly sponsored by Lidl.

Follow the feisty Emily as she tries to outwit the greatest trickster of them all...Rumpelstiltskin! Straw turns to gold, magic and mayhem are in the air... before the sun rises will our brave heroine, played by Doireann,be able to solve the riddle and save the day or will rotten Rumpel double cross her once and for all?

Based on the Classic Brothers Grimm fairytale, Rumpelstiltskin will be given a magical MAC twist to deliver a spectacular live show.

Suitable for the whole family Rumpelstiltskin is packed with humour, live music and spectacular action.

Starring a stellar cast, Doireann McKenna will also be joined by local actors, Jo Donnelly (as Rumpelstiltskin); Michael Lavery (as the King); alongside Tom Giles (as the Miller).

Doireann has recently returned from Broadway NYC where she performed on 42nd street with Replay Theatre Company inBABBLE. She has also starred in WIGGLEGIGGLE, Nottingham Playhouse; The Rugged Path & The Summit, Lyric Theatre; and ‘Still, the blackbird sings’ at the Playhouse, Derry; to name but a few.

She also the founded & directs at the Drama Time drama school and Do-Re-Play in Belfast.

Speaking on this year’s Christmas programme and the production of Rumpelstiltskin, Anne McReynolds, Chief Executive of the MAC said:

“This Christmas, we are extremely excited to have Rumpelstiltskin at the MAC. The anticipation is building as Doireann and the cast start their rehearsals this week. It is a fantastic family show based on the traditional fairy tale that families will love, but brought bang up to date full of sassy humour and modern day references.

“At the MAC, we aim to excite the imagination of visitors of all ages which is why we go all out at Christmas by creating our special free activities like the fairytale forest, our family room and the Christmas window.
