The girlfriend of the city’s newest Big Brother contestant Conor McIntyre says the Derry man will make sure this year’s series is worth watching.

Conor, 24, from Hatmmore, was one of three contestants put up for eviction on the very first night of the new series.

But his girlfriend Kayleigh O’Reilly, a former Miss Derry, says his personality will shine through.

“Conor is all about having the craic. He is the life and soul of the party.

“He is really funny and confident but only after getting to know someone a little while. He was nominated as he was a little shy to start with but he will make this years programme worth watching,” promised his partner.

A former St. Joseph’s pupil, Conor has actually been in hiding for the last two weeks, incommunicado with his family and friends.

“Conor still couldn’t believe he was going to be on the show. In fact it only started sinking in as his mother and I drove him to the airport in Belfast. He wasn’t allowed to tell anyone,” said Kayleigh who watched Conor’s TV debut with his family and friends.

“We all watched it together in his family home with his granny, grand-dad, daddy and wee niece. All his friends gathered in the house as well so it was crowded.”

So how did they react when Conor mentioned his party piece?

“His granny said we couldn’t really hear, which was just as well. Him and his mates are like that, joking around all the time. They are a group of guys who all have their own wee tricks, I personally don’t think it’s amazing.”

Describing Conor as the “blue eyed boy” of his family, Kayleigh said she plans to travel to London for the eviction this Friday night.

“He wasn’t really nominated for any reason. The whole house went silent when his name was mentioned for eviction. We could see it in his face that he was gutted. No one expected that one coming. Everyone who meets him loves him,” said Kayleigh.

“So I’m sure he’ll be OK. Like I said he’ll make this year’s Big Brother worth watching.”

Conor works as a personal fitness trainer at Templemore Sports Complex and The City Hotel.

A football fanatic he was once selected for a David Beckham soccer academy training camp alongside stars like Damian Duff and Frank Lampard.

In order to help Conor avoid becoming the first evictee, ‘Team Mackers’ as they call themselves are calling on Derry to get behind the BB contestant.
