Some of the biggest figures in international cinema including Oscar winning director Danny Boyle, BAFTA winner Paul Greengrass and Pulitzer Prize winning writer and actor Sam Shepard will be arriving in Derry in November for a month-long programme of film screenings and special events, entitled Cinema City.
Cinema City is presented by Culture Company and the Nerve Centre, in association with the University of Ulster, BFI, BAFTA, Film Hub NI, NWRC and the Foyle Film Festival. With venues including Brunswick Moviebowl, the Nerve Centre, Ebrington Square, St Columb’s Hall, the Masonic Hall, the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall, the Rath Mor Centre, Foyle Theatre as well as local community centres and libraries, Derry will truly become a city of cinema throughout November.
Four key themes will be woven through the programme for Cinema City: GOTHIC, Portrait of a City, Legacies of Conflict, and Art in Cinema. The programme which also takes in the 26th Foyle Film Festival from November 20-24, will include special seasons on the films of Danny Boyle, Sam Shepard and Stephen Rea.
