Derry’s newest film company are to hold an open casting call tomorrow for local child actors aged 11-15 years-old to star in a short film.
‘Liv It Up Film Productions’ are to make a five-minute film entitled ‘Puddings’, written and directed by Derry filmmaker Eugene Magee, who previously created the film Mr Happy.
He was chosen alongside musical composer James Everett to create the five-minute short as part of this year’s CultureTech Festival and the Fuse Film Fund - and they only have eleven days to do it.
It will be screened on Saturday, September 14, at The Playhouse with the score also performed live.
Eugene Magee revealed: “The entire project will be shot and produced within 11 days as part of Fuse Film Fund deadline. It is going to be a real challenge but we believe with the help from the Derry public we can do it.”
Elaborating on the five-minute short itself, Eugene explained: “Puddings is a short comedy following a local cricket match between kids from opposing neighbourhoods of Derry’s Creggan.
“It has comedic consequences that will have young and old viewers laughing in their seats.”
If you’re aged 11-15 years of age and would like to try out, please attend the casting call tomorrow, Wednesday, August 28 between 11am and 5pm at Magazine Street Studios. Or email: firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line ‘Puddings’.
