COVID-19 rate doubles on cityside of Derry while falling considerably in Strabane

The seven-day COVID-19 rate in the BT48 postcode area of Derry has more than doubled to 62.4 cases per 100,000.

Between March 8 and March 14 there were 38 SARS-CoV-2 cases on the cityside (BT48) giving a rate per 100,000 of 62.4. This is more than double the figure of 24.6 per 100,000 for the March 1 to March 7 period that was registered last Monday.

In the BT47 postal area - the Waterside as far as Dungiven - there were 22 positive tests over the same weekly period giving a rate per 100,000 of 35.6, up only slightly on the figure of 27.5 this time last week.

In Strabane (BT82) there were 29 cases giving a prevalence rate of 107.8 cases per 100,000. This was down considerably on the figure of 189.7 last week.

Two weeks ago Strabane was posting the highest COVID-19 rate anywhere in the six counties.

The highest rates in the north are now in Ballymena (BT43) 223.1; Belfast Harbour (BT3) 222.2; the area of West and North Belfast including the Shankill Road (BT13) 197.5; the neighbouring area of Belfast including Ballysillan and the Ardoyne (BT14) 162.8; Holywood (BT18) 146.5; and Dungannon (BT70) 146.1.

In Castlederg there was just one case giving a rate of 12.7.cases per 100,000.
