SDLP Councillor for Foyleside Shauna Cusack has called on Transport NI to take 'immediate action' to improve road markings along Creggan and Springtown Road.

Colr. Cusack said: “It is evident to anyone what lives in this area that the road markings, or should I say lack of them, have become unacceptable. They are practically invisible in many areas and this has to be a serious safety issue.

“Obviously we still have a state of upheaval in Stormont where no Executive has been established, therefore no Departmental Ministers and no budget, however I am concerned that should this issue be ignored it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident in the area as a result.

“I would urge Transport NI to have a look at their resources and allocate what they can to dealing with this road safety matter as soon as possible.

“In the meantime I would encourage road users and pedestrians to take extra care , particularly at junctions and crossings,” she added.
