24 hour car parking introduced at Foyleside Shopping Centre in Derry
Foyleside Shopping Centre are now offering safe 24/7 parking to all city centre users in its East Car Park.
The change comes as Foyleside was recently granted the British Parking Association’s ‘Park Mark’ award.
The award comes as part of the Safer Parking Scheme, a national standard for UK car parks that have low crime and measures in place to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
A ‘Park Mark’ is awarded to each car park that passes challenging assessments set by the police and BPA, to give users the confidence to leave their vehicle in a safe, undisrupted environment.
In the UK, a quarter of car parks have achieved the ‘Park Mark’ award. That’s 5,000 out of 17,000-20,000 car parks across the country.
Foyleside have said that the move will “allow shoppers to enjoy the experience of Derry even more”.
Fergal Rafferty, Foyleside Shopping Centre Manager said: “We strive to provide a safe and clean environment for shoppers and visitors to park their cars. Being awarded these accolades is a testament to our Security and Housekeeping teams who work hard to ensure standards are maintained.
“We are very excited to offer this fantastic additional service to all city centre users so they can enjoy visiting not only the Shopping Centre but also the city without time restrictions, and trust that their vehicles will remain safe and secure.”
To celebrate the launch of 24/7 city centre car parking, Foyleside have become a Millennium Forum ticketing partner, with the news of the 24 hour parking to be advertised on over 300,000 audience tickets in 2020.
Cara McCartney, Development Officer Millennium Forum, said: “We have been working closely with Foyleside for over 19 years on cross promotions, award-winning arts projects and extended opening hours around late shows.
“We always try to support each other and give added value to both our customer bases. These aspects will continue and grow through this new partnership. As a registered charity we are very grateful for their support.”
