Arkle Resources, who are the first company known to drill for gold in the area, announced a significant find of 40.7g/t gold in a 10cm quartz vein in Meeneragh.

The vein was along strike from a high grade drill hole undertaken in 2016.

Additionally, 13.1g./t gold was discovered in a 50cm quartz vein outcrop identifying the bedrock source of the large boulders found in the adjoining fields in 2015 and 2016.

Drill targets were selected at the Meeneragh prospect and two phases of initial drilling were completed in 2016, which identified a series of parallel gold bearing veins.

Five additional drill holes were completed in October 2017 and works have been ongoing since then.

The latest trenching results have been described by Arkle chairman John Teeling as not only matching, but exceeding their best expectations. In an interview, he told www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk.that the discovery of the gold veins represents a ‘watershed moment’ for the Inishowen project.

A fully funded drilling programme is now being planned.
