Derry COVID-19 rate at 51.8 per 100,000 and third lowest in the north

The Derry/Strabane COVID-19 rate has fallen slightly and is now the third lowest in the north.

Between March 8 and March 14, there were 78 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 51.8, down from 52.4 yesterday.

Derry Strabane is recording the third lowest coronavirus rate in the north. The only areas with lower rates are Fermanagh and Omagh (37.7) and Newry, Mourne and Down (51.6).

Rates are higher in Mid Ulster (88.8), Mid and East Antrim (82.3), Belfast (76.8), Causeway Coast and Glens (68.6), Ards and North Down (63.4), Antrim and Newtownabbey (63.1), Lisburn and Castlereagh (61.3) and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (55.7).

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between March 13 and March 14 was 11.

In total 11,329 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
