Loganair Derry to Edinburgh route to end in 2023 as Glasgow frequency to increase

The air route between City of Derry Airport and Scotland’s capital Edinburgh is to end in the New Year, it has been confirmed.

Scottish airline Loganair, which only introduced the route back in May, has however confirmed that it plans to increase the frequency of its Derry to Glasgow service instead.

It is understood the airline is closing down its Edinburgh route from at the start of January due to the impact of increased low cost competition from Belfast to Edinburgh and increases in running costs.

Steve Frazer, managing director at City of Derry Airport said: “Loganair have advised that they wish to focus the Scottish connectivity from CODA through their Glasgow service by increasing the frequency towards a daily service for the summer, this will compensate somewhat for the three services which will be removed from Edinburgh each week.
