Celtronic 2016 line-up announced

Ireland's premier electronic music festival, Celtronic 2016 celebrates its 16th anniversary this summer.

This year’s showpiece will return to Derry on Wednesday June 29 and will run until Sunday July 3.

The acclaimed festival has been described as ‘Ireland’s answer to Sonar’ and regularly attracts thousands of music fans to the city to dance to the world’s best electronic music talent.

Among the headliners announced this week are some of the world’s finest DJs and live acts.

Live performances will come from Bulgarian maestro, KiNK, Resident Advisor’s No.1 Live Electronic Act in 2015 and Âme, whose label Innervisions has won the hearts and minds of its global audience by emphasising melody, musicality and emotion. Also playing live at the festival will be Rival Consoles who specialises in a style of warm, earthy electronica built around his technical mastery of synths, guitars and acoustic instruments and has been compared to Erased Tapes labelmate, Nils Frahm

As always, the festival will feature some of the best DJs from across the electronic music spectrum.

Techno fans are in for a treat with the Celtronic debut of Berlin’s futuristic techno hero, Rødhad, rated No.10 in Resident Advisor’s Top DJs poll.

Running Back head honcho, Gerd Janson, a true master who is often referred to as the DJs’ DJ is joined on the lineup by fellow German, Barnt, whose releases on Kompakt and Magazine have led to performances at some of the world’s best clubs and festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival, Mutek and Burning Man. Ewan Pearson, one of the world’s most trusted authorities on electronic music and an artist that The Guardian newspaper have called ‘The Venus Williams of the DJ World’ returns to the festival for the first time in eight years while Edward, a mainstay of Berlin’s WHITE label and Weimar’s esteemed Giegling crew completes the strong German contingent at Celtronic 2016.
