A protest has been staged outside the DUP office in Derry amid anger over a petition being launched to effectively stop same sex marriage equality.
The DUP again invoked the petition ahead of the vote in the Assembly on same sex marriage today, which recorded a historic majority of MLAs voting in favour.
Local People Before Profit representatives protested outside the DUP office in Limavady Road.
Meanwhile Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Maeve McLaughlin said history was being made at Stormont today.
Ms McLaughlin said; “This signals a major shift in society with more and more people supporting marriage equality for our LGBT community.
“It vindicates our position to bring this motion forward for the fifth time and we will continue to push on until equality becomes law.”
