Banagher boxing champion Eamonn O’Kane received a hero’s welcome in Dungiven on Tuesday after retaining his IBF Inter-Continental title in a hard fought contest in Lavey.
The victory over previously unbeaten Englishman, Lewis Taylor has boosted his hopes of getting a crack at the IBF middleweight world title.
O’Kane, 33, took Saturday’s contest on points to retain his Inter-Continental belt.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist says he has come a long way since bridging the gap between the amateur and the professional game, but is ready for what’s next.
