A walk and cycle in aid of Cancer Care West will leave from Fort Dunree this Sunday. October 12th.
Fort Dunree are helping to organise the event, which is being organised on behalf of popular former Fort Dunree staff member Alfie Mc Govern.
Alfie received tremendous treatment and support from the facilities provided by Cancer Care West. Cancer Care West provides accommodation for families living outside of the Galway area who have a family member undergoing treatment at University Hospital Galway.
All of Cancer Care West’s services are provided at no cost to patients and their families and the charity relies heavily on voluntary fundraising and donations to meet the cost of providing these services.
Alfie said: “The care and attention I received was second to none and they helped make a difficult situation a lot more manageable.”
There will be two cycles, 50km and 25km, starting off from Fort Dunree car park at 9.30am.
There will also be a 5km walk starting off at the carpark at 10.30am.
Refreshments will be provided afterwards. Please come along and support this worthwhile cause. The cost is ten euro per cyclist and five euro per walker.
Cyclists must wear a helmet. Registration is from 8.45am.
