All systems go for the Inishowen Vintage Show this weekend

Features of the family-friendly Annual Show will include exhibitors from across Ireland and beyond, with some travelling from as far away as Cork and Scotland, and displaying tractors, machinery, trucks and cars, as well as demonstrations of many traditional crafts and skills.

The Harvest will also be returning, showcasing how the traditionally sown field crop is cut and tied using methods such as hand scythes, horse drawn reapers and binders and early vintage tractors and harvesting machines.

The show will run from 10am to around 5.30pm, with entrance priced at 7 euro and is free for children.

Organisers are hoping a run of dry days at previous festivals and the current spell of warm weather will augur well for this year’s Show on Sunday.

Noel Doherty said additional features for this year’s festival will the prestigious hosting of a round of the National Tug-Of-War competition.

Over 20 teams from across Ireland, north and south, will be attending the event which kicks off at 12.30pm and ruins through until 5.30pm. The Tug-of-War is sponsored by Glenturas Construction.

Mr Doherty said: “We’re hoping for another great Show this year. Previously we have had around 3,500 people through the gates. It’s a very well supported event, and there are events happening for everyone.”

Billy Bubbles children’s entertainer will be at the event, and there will be a Craft Fair and traditional tea tent on site.

Tonight the large marquee will host singing sensation Ritchie Reno at the large marquee on the site, with Gary Fitzpatrick up first at the concert, which begins at 9pm.

Saturday meanwhile will see local Moville band The Yetis take to the stage, with Marie McCormick entertaining at 9pm in the marquee.
