Appeal after burglary in Dungiven

Police are appealing for information about a burglary in Dungiven.

At about 6pm on Friday 25th, police attended a burglary at Main Street, which had occurred a few minutes earlier.

Entry was gained through an unlocked rear door to the property and both residents were in the property at the time.

A woman disturbed the burglar who made off through the rear and onto Main Street.

Constable McKee, the investigating officer, said: “Through initial investigation, it appears he then entered a public house nearby, staying a very short time before making off along what we believe to be along Garvagh Road, Dungiven.

“The suspect was described as having light coloured hair, approx. 5’ 6” tall, stocky build, wearing a blue chequered shirt, blue jeans, possibly with an Antrim/Belfast accent.”

Information can be given on the police non-emergency number, 101, or by calling the Crimestoppers Charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
