Appeal for attacks to stop

Appeals for city centre attacks to stop have followed an assault on 15 year-old boy in Derry.

The teenager was kicked to the head and body a number of times at Foyle Road last Friday at around 8pm. He sustained injuries to his face and bruising to his back and shoulders.

SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey said it was a “sickening attack”. “What type of society thinks it ok for a group of people handing out mob beatings on teenagers? Certainly not Derry - people are angered by this,” he added. “I wish the victim a quick recovery from the ordeal. This cannot be tolerated and cannot continue to happen.”

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault to call 0845 600 8000.
