The owner of a cherished family dog has appealed for help from Derry Journal readers to help reunite him with his missing pet.

Christopher Anderson from Creggan Road was away from home for a few days last week when Hugo, a two-year-old Akita, went missing.

He said: “I went away on holidays last Thursday and when I came back on Monday, somebody had opened the gate to the back yard and let the dog out.

“From what I’ve been told, the day I went the dog was seen out.”

Christopher and his partner Emma say the fully grown, fully bred dog is a friendly family pet and they are anxious to find him.

Hugo is black with white ‘socks’ and a white undercoat and chest.
