Art Classes for Over 60s at Age Concern

Aspiring artists aged 60 plus are invited to attend a new series of Art Classes at Age Concern Derry, based in Malvern House, Chapel Road, Waterside.

The classes will take place on Tuesdays at 1.30pm and will run for ten weeks. The classes target various levels of ability including absolute beginners, intermediate and advanced. Numbers are limited so early registration is advised.

Those attending must be over 60 years of age and reside within Derry City Council area.

A spokesperson for Age Concern Derry said: “The creative process can be a health enhancing and personal growth experience. Social isolation and inactivity can have a detrimental effect on the health of older people. These art classes will especially encourage those who are isolated and alone to play an active role in their local community, develop social connections and friendships, learn new skills and above all to relax and have fun! The classes offer opportunity to open up one’s creative mind and possibilities for personal change”.
