'˜Badly disrepaired' main roadway in estate to be resurfaced by November

SDLP Councillor, Angela Dobbins, welcomed a commitment from TransportNI that it will shortly be carrying out resurfacing work in Cornshell Fields.

She said: “The road through Cornshell Fields has become in such a state of disrepair and following numerous calls from residents to myself, Colr. [Brian] Tierney and [SDLP leader] Colum Eastwood’s office we have highlighted this at every committee meeting with TransportNI.

“We have now been given confirmation that its resurfacing works has been included in this financial year and should commence in the autumn and should be completed by end November.”

Colr. Dobbins said resurfacing of the Ballynagard Road from the Culmore Road to the end of the residential area of Ballynagard Close is also programmed.

“The repair, where necessary, of the speed ramps will be included on this schedule. Unfortunately, I have been informed that due to financial constraints the replacement of the 30 miles per hour speed signs on entering the village cannot be considered until the next financial budget of 2019.”
