A group of refugees in a rubber dinghy arriving on the beach at Psalidi near Kos Town, Kos, Greece this summer.

Calling themselves the ‘Bag Ladies of Burt,’ the group are hoping for support and donations for their fundraiser, which will take place in April.

A spokesperson told the ‘Journal:’ “This is a humanitarian issue that we all have to play a part in helping in some way to aid these unfortunate families who have had to flee their own homes and country in order to survive. We are especially concerned for the women and children who have been caught up in this act of war.”

As a fundraiser, they are having a ‘Bag and Jewellery’ sale in St. Mary’s Hall, Burt on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April.

They are appealing to everyone to please donate any saleable items of jewellery and bags to their sale.

They also welcome other saleable items such as unused gifts or new shoes /scarf’s, or perhaps a craft item that you have made that you would like to donate.

They welcome any support you can give them or if you would like to be part of their team to raise these much needed funds.
