The inaugural ‘Banks of the Foyle Festival’, which takes places this weekend, offers something for everyone, and aims to promote the good image of Greysteel, organisers have said.
In its first year, the three-day festival features live entertainment and a variety of sport and community activities.
Programme officer, Columba Mailey said the overall aim of the festival is to promote the village of Greysteel, and help inject life into the local economy.
“Our motto and ethos is to regenerate the village of Greysteel socially and economically in the aftermath of the Troubles. We want to promote the good image of the village and all that it has to offer,” said Columba.
“We want to provide something for people they normally wouldn’t have access to and they would have to go elsewhere for.”
Funded by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, with a grant administered via the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, most of the activites will take place at The Vale Centre.
The Festival features live entertainment tonight at The Vale Centre at 8pm, hosted by Faughanvale GAC, with Derek Ryan and his band. On Saturday there is a 5K family fun run at The Vale Centre at 10am, preceded by a five-a-side blitz at 11am.
