Best wishes to Declan and Donegal on Sunday

Best wishes to Declan Walsh and the Donegal senior side in their All Ireland semi-final against Cork this coming Sunday, Declan was unable to feature against Kerry in the quarter final due to injury, hopefully he will be available for selection this weekend.

Donegal is running an All County Quiz tonight live on Highland Radio to raise funds for the senior team training fund. The Malin heat will take place in the GAA centre with the quiz live on Highland at 9-00pm, entry is 5 euro per person so be sure to come along and show your support for Donegal, especially as our club has Declan on the panel.

Carndonagh Community School re-opens as follows : Tuesday, 28th August for First, Transition Year and Fifth Year students. Bus to the Lamas Fair in Ballycastle on Monday, 27th August will be leaving the Diamond, Carndonagh at 8am, Clonmany at 8.30am, and Supervalu in Buncrana at 9am. Tea will be served in Malin Prespyterian Church Hall every Saturday during the month of August from 2.30pm until 5pm. Visitors will be welcome to look around the Church and graveyard and to read about the history of the church. All welcome.

Malin GAA: Congratulations to the senior side on another excellent 3-12 to 0-12 away win over Naomh Brid, a result that returns Malin to the top of Division 2 due to Killybegs’ loss against Cloughaneely. Malin have two home games remaining (Cloughaneely and Glenfin), should they win these then they will be Division 2 winners for a third time regardless of results elsewhere.

Declan is not the only Malin man in the last 4 of an All Ireland, assistant treasurer Patrick Houton into the last 4 of Ireland’s Number 1 GAA Supporter, a Supervalu competition to select the top club person in the country with a prize of €10,000 for Malin GAA Club at stake.

Shaun McLaughlin(O) is representing Malin GAA Club in The Biggest Loser, an Inishowen charity fundraiser with all seven Inishowen clubs represented with each of the participants raising money for various local charities, well done to all of them for attempting to raise much needed funds. Shaun is raising money for the Donegal Hospice over the next 10 weeks with the final weigh in for all seven participants taking place in the Malin GAA Centre on Sunday 28th October at 9-00pm. Between now and then there will be sponsorship sheets available throughout the parish, please support Shaun in this very worthy cause.

There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 5,7,2,1,4,3,6. The 50 euro winner was Cillian McLaughlin, 36 Cornfield Lane, Newton, with the €20 sellers prize going to Ronan and Suzie Lafferty, Ballymena, Malin.
