A big '˜thumbs up' for Nathan Carter

Three Clonmany schoolchildren were the stars of the show at country singer Nathan Carter's recent concert at the Millennium Forum.

Keelan Doherty, Adrian Doherty and Matthew Friel are huge fans of the singer.

They attended the concert as VIP guests after Nathan saw their video, which issued an invitation to him to visit the school and raise their fourth Green Flag.

While his busy schedule meant he couldn’t visit, the chart-topper and his manager John Farry issued a special VIP invitation to the boys and their families to join him at his concert in Derry last Thursday night.

It was a night the boys ‘will never forget,’ not only because they got to meet the man himself, but due to the fact they also got to share the stage with him.

As he introduced his popular song ‘Wagon Wheel,’ a firm favourite of the three boys, Nathan invited them on stage to join with him in singing the song.

They did so with gusto, to cheers and applause from the hundreds of men, women and children who had gathered to watch the show.

The boys’ teacher, Martin Toland, told the ‘Journal’ it was truly a night to remember. He was also full of praise for the star, who, he said “gave his time so freely.”

Mr Toland also paid tribute to manager, John Farry, who was a “gentleman” from start to finish and the staff of the Millennium Forum, who were “lovely and more than accommodating.”

He said: “It really is a night the boys will never forget.”

Nathan Carter later posted a picture with the boys on his facebook account, which has over 167,000 likes, calling them “little stars.” It was ‘liked’ over 3,500 times.

It was a week of celebrity for the school, with ‘Games of Thrones’ star Art Parkinson raising its Green Flag on Friday.
