The biggest city wide STEM event is taking place in the Outer North area next week.
The one day event showcases a free interactive programme of activity that will see young people from across the city introduced and given access to new experiences focusing on STEM (Science, technology, Engineering, Maths). Speaking ahead of the event Marty McGranaghan, Youth Support Worker for the Outer North area, said: “This fayre will work with schools, community groups, youth groups and individuals from across the city to enable young people from all backgrounds and abilities to come along and take part in Science experiments, test drive Segways have a go at outdoor laser tag as well as looking at game development over the past 25 years from Arti to PS4 The event will help them to understand in a fun way the real world applications of STEM subjects and experience hands on STEM activities that motivate inspire and bring learning and career opportunities to life.”
Louise Hughes Outer north Community Engagement Officer added:“Full STEM Ahead, will be a fun and rewarding way for participants from right across the city to enhance both the enjoyment and learning experience within the targeted STEM themes, outside of the restrictions of a typical classroom.”
The event will take place on Wednesday February 18 from 12-4pm and is aimed at young people aged 11+.
