Bomb squad called out 93 times from July to January

The bomb squad were called out to 93 incidents in the North in the last six months of last year the Minister of State for the British Armed Forces Mark Lancaster has advised DUP MP Gregory Campbell.

Mr. Campbell, who has repeatedly called for the establishment of a base for ammunition technical officers in the Derry area asked Mr. Lancaster to provide details on the level of call-outs across the North.

The East Derry MP asked Mr. Lancaster how many times explosive ordinance officers (EOD) were deployed to deal with incidents in the North between July 2017 and January 2018.

He replied: “Between July 1, 2017 and January 1, 2018 EOD personnel have responded to 93 incidents in Northern Ireland.”
