La Dolce Vita Project is to use the £10,000 award to help provide a dedicated venue for its activities.

Mother of three Donna Maria Logue originally founded it as a Facebook group from her bedroom in January 2016 after suffering a long history of domestic abuse.

Since then, demand for support from all over Northern Ireland has been high.

The Awards for All grant is providing set up costs for the charity’s new premises at Queen Street.

“La Dolce Vita Project has been a life-line for those who remain in the relationship, in empowering them to make changes for their own safety,” Donna Maria said.

Donna Maria is launching the Domestic Abuse Awareness Campaign on Monday, October 3, which will involve public discussions, talks, workshops, and street collections involving pupils from various schools.
