Brothers charged with 79 offences over alleged Galliagh crime spree

Two brothers have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged crime spree in Galliagh and Shantallow.

Michael Martin Carlin, 23, of Amelia Court, faces a total of 43 charges relating to alleged incidents on November 18 and 19.

They include rape, sexual assault, attempted robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is also charged with common assault, burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and motoring offences.

His 18-year-old brother Andrew Carlin, of Knockdara Park, faces a total 36 charges.

They include attempted hijacking, carrying a firearm, attempted robbery and aggravated burglary.

He faces further charges of possessing an offensive weapon, common assault and criminal damage.

An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court she could connect both defendants to the charges.

There was no bail application and both defendants were remanded in custody until December 11.
