The Glencaw Park property was entered at around 3.50am on Sunday morning.

The intruder entered the householder’s bedroom but fled upon seeing her.

A purse containing cash was taken from a downstairs room.

The empty purse was later found in the nearby Cashel Hill Park.

Detective Constable Emma Marshall is appealing for witnesses: “I would like to hear from anyone with information about this crime or who may have witnessed any unusual activity, either in Glencaw Park, Cashel Hill Park or any of the surrounding areas of Gallaigh.

“We are also investigating a report that a man had been banging at the front door of a nearby property just prior to the time of the burglary. Anyone with information is asked to contact Strand Road Reactive and Organised Crime on 101.”
