A social media snap posted by Limavady musician Ruairí Connolly AKA ‘Ruairí and The Owls’ about an ice cream surprise when he was on the bus on Tuesday has gone viral.

The 33-year-old was travelling between Derry and Strabane at around 6pm and with just one other passenger on the bus when the driver pulled over and nipped quickly into the shop to do the lotto.

When the driver returned, he kindly handed Ruairí and the female passenger ice lollies.

During the half-hour long bus journey, Ruairí and the other passenger struck up a conversation. When they got off the bus, the driver joked about a romance blossoming between the pair.

While Ruairí didn’t get the girl’s number, he did get her name and said he believed she is from Derry. He also said he wouldn’t mind if the girl got in touch!

Since Ruairí shared a snap on social media, on his Facebook page, of the ice-cream surprise, it has been shared more than 300 times and received more than 24,000 likes on the page ‘Culture Northern Ireland’.

Ruairí admits: “Well hasn’t this gone a little mental!!”
